The Adventure of the Spooky House

By Anvita Agarwal

Once upon a time there were three friends- Olivia, Henry and Jacob. They were very excited because they were having a sleepover at Olivia's house. Olivia was a kind and respectful girl. Whenever someone needed help, she was the first one to step up. She would never leave anybody behind who is in need. Jacob on the other hand, was a naughty boy, always playing pranks but somehow managed to get good grades. Teachers praised him often. Henry was a quiet boy who dreamed of becoming a hacker one day but he was afraid of everything.

As the clock struck midnight, the three friends were getting ready to sleep when a glowing ball of light floated into the room.

“Wow! What is it?” Whispered Jacob.

“It is beautiful,” replied Olivia very softly.

The light bobbed in the air and started to drift out of the room. Excited, the three of them followed it.

The light ball led them to a secluded place. They felt like they were lost. They entered the house. It creaked with every step they took. Cobwebs dangled from the ceiling. A cold wind brushed past them. “I don't like this,” Henry whispered. As they looked around they discovered an old keypad on the wall. Next to it was a dusty note with a number scribbled on it: 272727. “Is this a passcode?” asked Olivia. “Let me try,” said Henry. His hands trembled, but he typed in the numbers.

They saw an ancient looking map lying on the creaking floor. As soon as Jacob picked the map something strange happened- the map started to talk!

The map told them, “Don't be scared! I am your friendly map, your guide. I will help you find the hidden key.” The three of them looked in shock. “I kind of like it,” Olivia said, with a smile.”

At first they were scared but slowly they started to feel comfortable with the map. They followed the map and went in deeper and it began to get scarier and scarier. The halls grew darker and colder. Olivia noticed a ghost flying outside the cracked window and they ducked just in time. The ghost didn't see them.

They went deeper and deeper as the map told them. It was so scary that Jacob was a bit scared too. At last the map stopped and started to blink near the scariest broom. But brave Olivia stepped up and said, “I will do it.”

Though she was scared, she believed in being there for her friends. She took a deep breath and took out the key with her eyes closed. “I got It!” shouted Olivia. Jacob and Henry jumped with joy. Yay! Hurray! Woohoo!

The map interrupted, “Don't be happy yet! You have to find the door too!” “Oh yes! We almost forgot about the door! said Olivia. “Then let's go find it,” said the map.

They followed the map again. The hallway was covered in cobwebs- on the floor, on the wall and even on the ceilings. The spiders crawled silently everywhere. The map started to blink again. ”This is it,” said Jacob. They took a sigh of relief. Henry took out the key and Jacob was ready to open the door. When they opened the door, there were hundreds of people stuck in time. As the door opened, people blinked and stretched. They were visibly happy.

You did it,” shouted the map! “You have broken the curse!”

They came out of the spooky room and the black hole. Finally after a long walk they reached home with the first ray of sunlight. They were so tired that they slept immediately. In the morning when they woke up, the crowd was waiting for them outside. The crowd cheered and clapped and gave them many gifts. Just like that an ordinary sleepover became an unforgettable adventure.
